Wow! Best Korean bbq I've ever had' better than Korean bbq in South Korea! We got the meat combo. Banchans are great, but ask for the secret banchan- marinaded raw crab. Best flavor I've ever tasted! Would recommend!

Best Korean Restaurant in Orange County. The quality of the marinated Kalbi is top notch and the naengmyun is the best around. Consistently delicious. Only small complaint is that the service can be hit or miss depending on your server. Overall great value and Mo Ran Gak has always been great. my parents favorite Korean restaurant.

Pretty good kbbq where they cook the meat for you. It's not AYCE but it was very delicious and they had very good side dishes. We got the unmarinated combo platter for four people and it was very filling, unless you're my brother who is 6'4". He was only half full. He probably should have ordered rice to supplement. They have a small parking lot but plenty of street parking. There was no line at 5pm on a Tuesday, but when we finished at 7pm, there was a 30+ minute wait on Yelp. They require your whole party to be present before they seat you. The steak was the best cut of meat and their sides had free refills but no pickled cucumber. Servers were very fast and efficient.

I wish the amount of meat was a little bit bigger but other than that, everything was absolutely amazing. They even helped us cook and it's a no-frills kind of place. You come you said they serve you and that's that. Very fresh and delicious.

Still the best thing in Garden Grove for NangMyeon House and set menu Korean BBQ. There're no smell or greasy feelings in this clean restaurant with over twenty years of consistent service and dining experience. I strongly recommend this place for absolutely gorgeous Hwe NangMyeon and Mool NangMyeon. My Mukbang friends and family, Do Not Hesitate! Go forth and enjoy!

Good food and service, the only draw back is too busy and long wait . Overall it's worth the waiting

No more free broth :-( but still a solid choice in the OC for no fuss Korean BBQ. Friendly staff that will cook the meats for you. During the pandemic they added a patio otherwise the place remains unchanged.

This place hands down has the best brisket I've had from any KBBQ spot!! We ordered combo A (subbed out the pork for extra brisket) and cold noodles. The combo includes a soy bean or tofu soup, steamed egg, and rice. Let me tell yall--the egg alone is straight fire. It was perfectly cooked and so fluffy. Also the brisket was wow. I loved how it was thinly cut, and you can really taste the high meat quality. The servers were attentive and it's always a plus when they cook for you! They also have a little instant coffee machine at the front of the restaurant. I honestly wasn't expecting much from it, but the coffee was surprisingly really good! Definitely coming back here soon!!

So, my wife wanted to bring her family here for a belated birthday lunch as they love their K-bbq. I don't eat beef and usually prefer not to go to K-bbqs because of the limited meat options for non-beef eaters, and the fact that I knew my clothes would smell of bbq after. But, I noticed that they had a few other offerings that I really like....like chicken meat and seafood pancake.....so I readily agreed to come here.....not that I had a choice, but to follow the ladies. A little about the place....this is a freestanding house with a decent sized parking lot that gets packed even 15-30 minutes before the place opens.....driving into the parking lot, you can already see the line of people waiting to get in. Luckily we arrived some 15-20 minutes before opening as we managed to snag the last parking spot.....things do get quite crazy when there are so few spaces and everybody comes at the same time. We signed in onto the waiting list (tablet outside), and the line actually went pretty quick as we waited less than 10 minutes to be seated. Our server seemmed very nice, friendly, and helpful...especially if you speak Korean, which I don't, but luckily, my wife and her family do, so all was good there. As for the food.....ok, lets start with the not so good. My wife and her family agreed on the Marinated Mo Ran Gak Combination of meats for 4 persons (or C) which came with Marinated Brisket, Bone-in Short Rib, Pork Collar, Thinly sliced Short Ribs, and Chicken meat.....this comes with a side of soju or beer (they chose the beer), Soybean Stew or Tofu Soup, and a Steamed Egg. For me, I ordered the Seafood Pancake. My wife and her family said they didn't enjoy the bbq meats very much because they had not ordered correctly. They had in fact intended to order the NON marinated combo as they preferred the plain grilled flavors of their beef, but instead, had to go though their lunch with marinated meats. Not that it was bad....just that they prefer it plain. So, since I didn't try any of the bbq beef, I did hget to try the marinated chicken, and it was really delicious.....the meat was moist, tender, and super yummy when eaten with the rice wraps, chilli sauce, and kimchi......yummy. I thought my seafood pancake was also very good.....good sized, nice and thick, full of ingredients, and a wonderful crunch of grilled to a nice golden crisp strings of artificial crab and spring onions on top. And, whether I dipped it in the soy or chilli sauces, it always tasted so delicious.....very satisfying. Another favorite dish of my wife and her family are bowls of Korean cold noodles, so they went ahead and ordered one regular and one spicy cold noodles.....and they absolutely loved them! For me, I am not a big fan of cold noodles, but did try them, and they were ok, by my taste. However, from the looks of everyone else at our table furiously slurping away at them, these were definitely a big hit.....I guess this is a dish you have to grow up with to truly appreciate. Oh, and that steamed egg that came with the combo, and the mung bean pancakes....both very hot, fresh, and yummy. There was also a good variety of freshly made banchans (K appetizers) that were quite hard to stop eating. Overall, quite a decent lunch here...very good service too. However, I felt bad for my wife and her family though as this K-bbq (beef) meal is their all time favorite and this lunch was supposed to be for them to enjoy, but instead, I think I enjoyed my dishes much more than they enjoyed theirs.

Oh, the circle of life. My teenage son and I land at John Wayne Airport from a state not known for its Korean BBQ. We find Mo Ran Gak on YELP. We eat amazing Korean BBQ. We go back to state without Mo Ran Gak. I share a review on YELP and cry a little. Thank you, YELP, once again, for steering us in the right direction to amazing food. Mo Ran Gak is a no reservations, busy, family-friendly restaurant. The reviewers are correct -- it's totally worth the wait (ours was only 25 minutes). We enjoyed the [new to us] self-serve hot coffee and tea station in the lobby. The red bean tea was *chefs kiss* and a warm gesture on a chilly day. Soon, we were escorted to a comfortable booth where the service started immediately. We ordered a BBQ dinner for two. From that moment on, the friendly staff delivered dishes and rolling carts of meats, noodles, veggies, and sauces for an hour straight. It was fun, filling, and so good. We would 100% return to Mo Ran Gak, but with all the excellent food choices in Orange County, we'll probably keep exploring.
